- They spoke to the principal-director of the Preuss (charter) School in San Diego;
- An editorial arguing the Academy should have been an election issue in the October vote;
- Coverage of the decision made earlier this week on a vote to rescind the Academy (it failed), as well as the two-week deadline for the first cohort of students to apply; and,
- An upcoming forum where it and other options may be discussed.
I do hope they sustain it as registration begins and the school opens in the fall.

There's a good piece on this in today's Globe & Mail. With information about the California school this is modeled on. Actually it is a more reasonable analysis than most of the hysteria I've seen on the topic.
I don't believe that any one or any government should be telling this community what they can and can not do. Let it happen. The board is accountable to the community and will stand either in support, if the school is a success, or in shame, if it's not.
I give them kudos for trying to do something different - even if they botched the way they introduced this to the public at large.
Look at what's happened in B.C. with Cristy Clark's election yesterday. She's opening the flood gates on parental choice, looking ahead and not back for more ways to better educate parents to make the choices they think will get their child the best education possible.
Can we hope for the same from an Ontario government in the future?

To your last question, I don't see it, at least not with the parties and people in play right now.
